Pharmacuticals and cost

Here is the reason drugs cost so much. It is linked in the title. Got to give the French their due credit on this, but pay attention to the cost. Someone does lots of research to find these drugs/cures, and the consumer must pay for it. Period.

STARVE THE BEAST

An important tax lesson is being learned in Tennessee right this very
minute...and tax-happy Republicans near and far ought to take note.

First, about a decade ago Tennessee passed a state version of HillaryCare...government-run health care. Not surprisingly, the cost of the cradle-to-grave “free” health care service began chewing up bigger and
bigger chunks of the state budget...kinda like “The Blob.” TennCare is now eating up a third of Tennessee’s budget already...and continues to grow

This problem has been coming on for some time now. Indeed, the program was already getting out of control under former Republican Gov. Don Sundquist.
Sundquist’s non-conservative solution to the problem was to propose a brand-spanking new income tax on Tennessee citizens to pay for the out-of-control socialized medicine program. He berated fellow Republicans for opposing his new income tax, justifying it as fiscally responsible. The
citizens of Tennessee, however, sided with those in the GOP who will support a tax hike only over their own dead bodies. Sundquist’s Folly was strangled
in its crib.
Enter Phil Bredesen, the state’s current Democrat governor who ran on a platform of slashing TennCare’s costs. Alas, he’s found that effort to be
impossible and is now preparing to “pull the plug” on the patient once and for all.
Thus the “starve the beast” lesson my friend Grover Norquist at Americans for Tax Reform is so fond of.
Had Sundquist gotten his way, Tennessee taxpayers would have been hit with a new tax...which still wouldn’t have been enough (it’s never enough) and
which would have increased over and over and over again in the years to come. Fortunately, conservative anti-tax activists were able to block the Sundquist tax.
And lo and behold...the government, short of that new revenue, now finds itself forced to eliminate a HUGE government program which otherwise would
have grown in perpetuity. This is why conservatives must ALWAYS insist on tax cuts, tax cuts and more tax cuts. If we keep denying them the money, eventually the liberals will be forced to accept the cuts in government which are richly deserved.
That goes double for liberal Republicans...who should know better.
